American Roulette uses a spinning wheel, which is round, and has 38 separately numbered pockets in which a rotating ball can land. The numbers change back and forth between red and black, the first red number is 1. There are 36 numbers plus a 0 and 00 these are both green. The player can bet using colored chips, which are assigned a value when he/she buys in at the table. The player can wager on a number landing straight up, as part of a combination, an odd or even number or a certain color. Odds are paid according to the bet, a number straight up pays 35-1 while a bet on red or black would pay even money.
